I finished "The Jew of Malta" a couple of days ago and forgot to write on this here blog. I really like how Marlowe writes and the intensity of his topics. I thought it was awful how brutal Barr
abas turned out to be, though I can't say I was surprised. The Jews have been the scapegoats since the beginning of time, pretty much. People don't like it when you claim to be the chosen ones, turns out. We watch Barrabas greedily count his money, whore out his daughter, and kill most everyone in the play--we even catch hints of him lusting after Abigail. Marlowe makes his scapegoat Jew despicable and offensive--something his audience found truly hilarious. I think it is awesome how our world has grown. We have made such strides since the times of the renaissance. I found both of my photos in a Google Image search for "jew"[the 1st] and "renaissance jew" [the 2nd]. I think it is important that we all be able to po
ke fun at each other, just as long as that teasing isn't fueled by hate and doesn't go too far.

...I'm sorry if my posts aren't very interesting. I'm not good at the journal entry stuff. I don't enjoy writing on my "free time" and I find the idea of the blog very annoying. Just so we're all clear...
